How To Take Your Fingerprints

You may take your fingerprints using any method you would like (below I have listed a few different ways). Some people have fingerprints that are difficult to see. If this is the case, the ink and paper method may be the best. Make sure the images are clear and accurately labeled (it is important that you properly label the images. For example, right hand, left hand, right thumb, right index, right middle, right ring, right pinky, left thumb, etcetera).

Method 1 (Ink and Paper):

1) Obtain Ink (Black Water-Based Block Printers Ink, or an Ink Pad, the kind you get from a stationary store).

2) Grasp the individual's right hand at the base of the thumb with your right hand. Cup your hand over the individual's fingers, tucking under those fingers not being printed. Guide the finger being printed with your left hand.

3) Roll the finger on the ink so that the entire fingerprint pattern area is evenly covered with ink. The ink should cover from one edge of the nail to the other and from the crease of the first joint to the tip of the finger. Using the right amount of ink is of vital importance. Too little ink and the impression will be too light. Too much ink and the fine details will run together.

4) Place the side of the finger on the paper, and then roll the finger to the other side until it faces the opposite direction. Care should be taken so that each finger is rolled evenly from tip to below the first joint. Generally, the weight of the finger is all the pressure needed to clearly record the fingerprint.

5) Roll each finger from nail to nail in the appropriate space taking care to lift each finger up and away after rolling, to avoid smudging.

6) Label each fingerprint correctly (for example, right thumb, right index, right, middle, right ring, right pinky, left thumb, left index, etcetera..). This is VERY important for an accurate analysis! Please double check that you labeled them correctly!

7) Scan the fingerprints.

9) Email the correctly labeled images with you name to: info@psychochirology.com

Method 2 (Scanner):

1) Use a scanner to make copies of your hands (Use a resolution of 300 and save the images as a jpeg with a width and height of at least 6 inches/15 cm). Position your hands as close to the glass as you can without touching it. You may want to put something under the middle of your fingers to rest them on while still maintaining your fingertips slightly off the glass (sample).

2) Scan your thumbs seperately with the pads of your thumbs facing the glass.

3) When you are done make sure you label the (right/left) hands and thumbs properly. This is VERY important for an accurate analysis! Please double check that you labeled them correctly!

2) Email the correctly labeled images with you name to: info@psychochirology.com

Method 3:

1) Let the police fingerprint you.

2) Scan, label correctly (for example, right thumb, right index, right, middle, right ring, right pinky, left thumb, left index, etcetera.. This is VERY important for an accurate analysis! Please double check that you labeled them correctly!), and email the prints to: info@psychochirology.com

Method 4 (Pencil, Paper and Scotch Tape):

1) Rub the side of a pencil on a piece of paper (you can use a knife to scrape the lead of the pencil)

2) Rub your finger on the patch where you rubbed with the pencil

3) Get a piece of tape (preferably scotch clear tape) (you may need a friend to help you with this)

4) Put your finger on the tape

5) Take the tape off gently

6) Put the tape on a piece of paper. Now you have your fingerprint!

7) Repeat for all fingers, including the thumbs.

8) Label each fingerprint correctly (for example, right thumb, right index, right, middle, right ring, right pinky, left thumb, left index, etcetera..). This is VERY important for an accurate analysis! Please double check that you labeled them correctly!

9) Scan the fingerprints.

10) Email the correctly labeled images with you name to: info@psychochirology.com
